I will be uploading various posts on different conventions which are important to the pop genre.
This video is very typical for some conventions of pop music, particularly in the setting of pop music videos and how female artists are portrayed.
Crazy Stupid Love is set in a night club, a typical location for a pop video. The use of the night club also appeals to a younger audience which is what we are aspiring for.The video is also a good example of how the artist is presented throughout, the use of camera shots and costume emphasise this.
There are a variety of close ups of the artist posing and singing which links into one of Goodwin's theories of the voyeurism of women, close ups and extreme close ups of her body and face are used to attract male attention, particularly.
You will find that Cheryl Cole is in centre shot for most of the video, there is also constant eye contact with the camera as if she is singing to her audience.
The music video is a Performance based video. The artist takes part in dance routines as well as lip synching.
