Our chosen artist Tove Lo became a hit with our chosen song choice, Habits. We know that pop music holds a mass audience, but I want to look at who Tove Lo appeals to, and why.
First, a brief recap on who Tove Lo is.
Tove Lo is a 26 year old singer/songwriter from Stockholm, Sweden. Her release of Habits is what gained the attention of pop fans in 2013. She then released her debut album 'True Serum' in March, 2014.
I have began to look into Tove Lo's Twitter followers to see if there is a pattern within her audience. She has just under 50,000 followers, however her audience is fairly random.
It is difficult in finding an exact target audience for Tove Lo and other big, well known artists because of their mass audience. Her song Habits made her big. This means she will attract a mass audience. People from all over the world follow her and listen to her music.
Following from this, I have had a look at her official Vevo channel on YouTube to find she has over 200,000 subscribers. This does not enable you to see who follows the artist, so the figure of 200,000 again highlights the large audience that Tove Lo has.
